Why is PropertyGuru and iProperty Malaysia implementing 8% SST?

In Budget 2024, the Minister for Finance announced that the Sales and Services Tax (SST) rate will be increased from 6% to 8% with effect from 1 Mar 2024 to expand the country's revenue base. In accordance with the applicable Malaysian tax laws, the increase of SST will be applicable to all taxable services, except for selected essential expenses like food and beverages (F&B) and telecommunication services.

When will the 8% SST treatment be effective?

In accordance with Malaysian tax laws, this will be effective from 1 March 2024.

What are the products and services that will be subjected to the 8% SST in accordance with the new government regulations?

As an outcome of this update, in accordance with the applicable Malaysian tax laws, any products and services that fall within the following entities, PropertyGuru International (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., MyProperty Data Sdn. Bhd. and Brickz Research Sdn. Bhd. (“Malaysian Entities”), will be subject to the 8% SST from 1 March 2024.

What will happen to my current orders with PropertyGuru and/or iProperty which I haven’t made payment for by 1 March 2024?

Please refer to the table below for the treatment of invoices and payments for sales and services made before and after 1 March 2024.

Do I need to take note of any system downtime for PropertyGuru and iProperty to implement the 8% SST?

Yes. We will be implementing a system update between 01 March 2024, 00:00hrs to 02 March 2024, 12:00hrs. As such, we will not be able to accept any orders (via your Account Manager) during this period. Please complete your payments by 29 Feb 2024, 11:59PM to avoid any disruption.

For iProperty customers, the Self-serve channel on iPropertyPRO will be undergoing a system update on 1 March 2024, 12.00AM to 10.00AM.  You may resume your credit purchases after the system update.

I need to make an urgent purchase. Can PropertyGuru/ iProperty make any exceptions during the system downtime?

No. We seek your understanding that we are unable to accept any assisted orders for both PropertyGuru and iProperty during the system update between 01 March 2024, 00:00hrs to 02 March 2024, 12:00hrs.

For iProperty customers, should you need to make any purchase of credits, you may continue to purchase your credits on our Self-serve channel on iPropertyPRO after the system update happening between 1 March 2024, 12.00AM to 10.00AM.
